Painting the Stairs at 4AM Sutra

Thus I have heard (thoughts that have come to my empty mind):

What you miss the first time (or the second) you can always revisit to touch up. You may have missed a spot in the moment without noticing, but looking back over your it is easy to spot your mistakes, and likewise easy to fix them. There is always a second chance, a means of redemption that may be clearer than you thought.

The second coat is always easier than the first. A lesson is more clearly seen and more easily learned after you make the same mistake twice.

Upon cutting in, going too slowly in attempt to maintain straight edging will cause you to wobble and falter. Over-contemplation will not improve your chances for success. Trust your intuition. Either you will succeed or your mistakes will build your intuition which will lead to future success.

Let the paint dry completely before allowing the space to become functional again. Take the time you need to learn from your experiences before moving on too quickly to what's next.

Seeking is necessary to finding only insomuch as in seeking you will discover how finding does not come about.

Let us not kid ourselves that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. There is only the way you have done them, are doing them, feel compelled to do them. There is a reason why you did the things the way you did at the time, a reason you're doing them now, a reason you will do them. There is also, upon looking back at things you have done, a greater reason to be discovered i.e. a mistake that you had to honestly make in order to learn a certain lesson.

For god's sake never proclaim enlightenment, or even understanding.

One of Those Perfect Words

The Merriam Webster Word of the Day for August 18, 2009 is:
canicular • \kuh-NIK-yuh-ler\ • adjective
: of or relating to the dog days (the period between early July and early September when the hot sultry weather of summer usually occurs in the northern hemisphere)

Example Sentence:
During the canicular heat of August, many of the town's residents venture to the local swimming hole in search of a way to stay cool.

Did you know?
The Latin word "canicula," meaning "small dog," is the diminutive form of "canis," source of the English word "canine." "Canicula" is also the Latin name for Sirius, the star that represents the hound of Orion in the constellation named for that hunter from Roman and Greek mythology. Because the first visible rising of Sirius occurs during the summer, the hot sultry days that occur from early July to early September came to be associated with the Dog Star. The Greeks called this time of year "hēmerai kynades," which the Romans translated into Latin as "dies caniculares," or as we know them in English, "the dog days."

What is You? You is What You is.

what is your true nature?
is it necessarily your current nature?
a nature you have consciously assumed?
or one that you must find?
do you bleed your true nature?
can you see it in the mirror?
is it projected in your dreams?

yes.

your true nature is everything.
your true nature is trying to find your true nature.
cycling through your attempts at truth.
body, mind and mystic.
it is not one way or the other.
it is all ways.
always.

trust not in what you think, but in what you is.

Thoughts on Looking at Your Picture

you need to start working on that stuff again. it is the only way out. the only way up. is that you? is that your body? solitude is aloneness with contentment. loneliness is aloneness with longing. joyous solitude may easily compound itself into tortuous loneliness. sometimes loneliness is what you need to show you exactly how much you need each other. can you get by with just one? if one works well why not fifty? what is exclusivity? it is loneliness that is the drive for union. union leads to contentment leads to a taking for granted leads to departure leads to longing leads to contentment (in aloneness) leads to longing (in aloneness) leads to cooperative union...

cooperation. co-operation. functioning together. ironically, cooperative stasis creates change and cooperative longing drives equilibrium. i'll take out the trash in san francisco alone, with you, while you read a book in new york, alone, with me. cooperative longing takes us places. let's go for a walk together, alone. this time lets take off in a straight line and end up somewhere new, rather than taking the same old loop and ending up right back home. let's imagine a new frontier. let's be lonely together, longing for something new. longing leads to action leads to action leads to action. when you do more you do even more. let's do more and more and thus last.

i like your torso a lot.

Project: One Dream Rush

We all share the waking world, our wanderings and struggles. But half of our lives are spent asleep, perfectly alone with our dreams. Dreams have been an inspiration to artists for millennia, and the source of creativity for some of the most visionary figures in our history.

In this spirit, 42Below vodka has commissioned 42 of the top filmmakers in the world today to give us their 42-second visions, 42-second hearts and souls—the dreams that continue to haunt, delight and inspire them. We have assembled a team of some of the most inspiring and resonant voices of our generation to share with us a little piece of their unconscious.

Where Am I?

imnotindenial

Dip-Tick-Tock

way back when
waiting up all night for the sunrise
too cold to go out on the roof just yet.
he told me about an artist
she had two personalities
maybe clinically now, but not originally.
she specialized in self portraits
portraits of her other self.
she held two apartments
one for herself one for her alter ego
one day when she got home
she got mad at herself for buying a new toaster oven.
i never did meet her
or her.
i wish i could remember her names.
